Despite no prior application-building experience or a technical background, I successfully built our application hassle-free. This was thanks to the program's user-friendliness and the quick, valuable help from customer support, making the entire process remarkably accessible and efficient for anyone.
We utilize OpenWater extensively, not solely for our diverse awards programs, but also as a solution for various grants, fellowships, and essentially anything that necessitates a formal application or structured judging process. The great advantage is having all this consolidated efficiently within one central system that integrates very smoothly with our existing association management system, significantly streamlining our operations and workflows for better productivity.
Our team effectively deals with over 80 different programs, reviewed by 80 different committees, each having 3-12 valuable volunteers. OpenWater's system makes it easy for us to collect crucial information that needs full review and enforce many unique and diverse applicant requirements. This year, OpenWater importantly allowed our team to seamlessly process over 1,200 applications, all of which were reviewed by around 320+ volunteers, a significant task for us.

Our Judges have found the program to be a very efficient and easy tool that conveniently lets them decide on all grant awards without having to reach out to our busy staff for additional technical support. Based on the feedback by our client base who have used other systems, we seem to excel in a few areas.
Integrations: From day 1 of our company we have prioritized integrations with other systems. Our robust API allows developers to do whatever they want. Out of the box we’ve integrated with all the major payment processors. We’ve also developed our own “Integrations Hub” that lets us connect with all the major CRMs (like Salesforce and Microsoft) and AMSs (iMIS, Fonteva, Nimble, YourMembership and MemberClicks to name a few). Single Sign On (SSO) and Bi-Directional Integrations all offered out-of-the-box for those CRMs that allow it.
Customer Support: We are averaging a 10 minute response time in our customer service department. We use the tool Intercom, which is a chat based system (similar to Teams/Slack/Text Message) so that our customers can have direct access to their dedicated team members. No more waiting 2 days for a response from clunky ticket based support systems. It’s no wonder we consistently rank at the top of G2 Crowd for best support in the industry.
Adaptability: Our customers are consistently surprised with how far they can push the limits of OpenWater to accommodate nuances in their workflows. Awards is only the beginning.
